Trailer To Go LARA’s portable repeater is ready to go. The repeater committee of the Langley Amateur Radio Association has finished construction of their portable repeater system. The idea for this movable system came out of the flood threat of 2007 when Glen Valley was threatened. LARA has three repeaters in the township of Langley, but not one of them would provide coverage to the threatened area. The idea of having a unit that could be positioned quickly and provide handheld coverage was conceived. The trailer is made of marine grade aluminum and carries one VHF and on UHF Kenwood repeater controlled by an Arcom RC210 controller. There is also an Icom IC 2820 on the third port for linking to other systems. The mast is a Hilomast TMP-10 semi-pneumatic that will raise the antenna to 10 meters. The unit is now ready to be deployed for any emergency situation in the two Langley’s, or elsewhere in the Province of BC. We would like to acknowledge the support of the BC Gaming Commission and Innovative Circuit Technology in providing funding and equipment for our repeater systems. Frequency of the two repeaters - 146.78 and 443.975 no tones
